A Mexican food truck exploded Tuesday evening in Northeast Philadelphia, critically burning two women and injuring about 10 other people, according to news reports.

Investigators said a propane tank blew up inside the truck about 5:30 p.m. in the city’s Feltonville neighborhood.

A 40-year-old woman suffered third-degree burns over almost all of her body, and a 25-year-old woman suffered second- and third-degree burns to nearly 100% of her body, KYW-TV reported.

The station also said that a 33-year-old man suffered first-degree burns, and that nine other people were taken to city hospitals with minor injuries.The Philadelphia Inquirer said 10 people were injured, while WCAU-TV reported eight injuries. Around 5:30 p.m., the tank on the left side rear of the La Parrillada Chapina truck on 3rd Street and Wyoming Avenue ignited and flew about 50 feet into a nearby backyard, according to police. Flames shot about 200 feet in the air, shaking nearby homes and businesses. Officials say 12 people in all were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.
