NBC station WCEN of Waco reported that nine people were killed.
Waco police confirmed that there was a shooting with “multiple fatalities” at Twin Peaks Sports Bar and Grill, in the busy Central Texas Market Place less than a half-mile from University High School. “The area is not safe,” they said.
No officers were been injured, police said, and no customers were immediately reported to have been involved.
KCEN quoted police as saying the rumble began shortly after noon 12:00 p.m. (1 p.m. ET) as a conflict between at least two motorcycle gangs inside the bar. It then moved out into the parking lot, where an undetermined number of people attacked one another with firearms, chains, knives, bats and clubs, they said.
Michelle Logan, who was at the restaurant, told The Waco Tribune that she saw at least 30 guns in the parking lot.
“They just opened fire,” she said.
